Truck & Transportation / Lead Hand

We are currently seeking a red seal truck & transportation mechanic to work with our client based out of the Truro, NS area. 

The Role: 

- Required to service, diagnose and complete repairs to waste collection vehicles to both the chassis and packer system as well as the facility/shop maintenance.

- Responsible with ensuring the fleet is ready to start working at 7:00AM the following morning.

- Required to conduct vehicle maintenance according to established MWS policies and procedures.

- Ensure that the fleet meets corporate appearance standards and maintain a clean and organized work place as well as liaise with operations to ensure service calls and or break downs are addressed and corrected in a timely fashion.

What You Can Expect: 

- Salary between $30,000 - $33,000;

- Shift is typically 2:00pm to midnight Monday through Friday with a shortened shift on Fridays (dependent on workload);

- Benefits after 3 months 50-50 split on premiums for first 9 months than 100% company paid after that;

- Pension after 2 years 5% defined contribution plan;

- Boot allowance & tool allowance that are done through reimbursement; 

- Other programs and benefits are offered with varying eligibility i.e. Employee Referral Programs, Scholarship programs for dependents etc.; 

- Fast-paced work environment with tight deadlines;

- Working as the lead hand on a number of advanced projects. 

Requirements: 

- Maintain a valid Truck & Transport technician’s license as well as a Nova Scotia class 5 driver license with air brake endorsement.

- Ability to diagnose and rectify faults, as well as possess experience in repairing hydraulic and electrical systems.

- Computer knowledge, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills is a must for this position.

- Ability to meet deadlines and stressful situations in a fast paced environment is key, as well as working with others in a team environment

- Must be available to work late when trucks are behind schedule, and you may be required to work weekends and holidays and be flexible with the hours of work.
